January 12, 2012: Fulton's Crab House in the land of the mouse
Hello from the Eastern Associaton for the Surgery of Trauma in sunny (well not really) Orlando, Florida. We had a really educational meeting today and I had a presentation of a national guideline. This made me hungry. I am at the Contemporary Resort and there is a great restaurant here, California Grill. Unfortunately I could not get reservations there. Oh well. So I went down to Downtown Disney on the noisy bus from hell to eat at Wolfgang Puck's cafe...but that took to long to get there. So I had a happy accident and ate at Fulton's Crab House instead.
What a treat. I had a great beer to start with...Orange Blossom Pilsner--a local craft beer. Yummy! This company also has some coconut porter, but you can only drink so many beers at one time.
For dinner, I had Florida stone crab claws. Menippe mercenaria, is a crab found in the western North Atlantic, from Connecticut to Belize, including Texas, the Gulf of Mexico, Cuba and the Bahamas that is widely caught for food. And boy does it taste good!
Fulton's Crab House served this with a horseradish sauce. I liked the sauce a lot, but it was overpowering this delicate crab, so I just squeezed lemon on it and went with the flow. This was a great meal for $27.00. What did I have with it? Nothing. Not needed!
I checked with Paul whom I really missed at this great meal and he had PASTA. :)
